So You’re Engaged

by | Oct 10, 2022

So, you’re engaged! Now what? I’m sure you’re over the moon with heartfelt emotions. After all, you are now a beautiful fiancé! Some may want to begin planning immediately, while some brides may want to take a little more time to enjoy and stay in that very moment of saying, “yes”!. When you’re ready to begin your journey of planning your dream wedding, whether you’re using a Wedding Planner or not, the perfect place to start is with a Pinterest board and start pinning things and places that reflect your love story. This is like brainstorming or jotting down all your ideas when preparing to write an essay (like the good ole school days).
There’s something relaxing about taking small pieces of a large puzzle to link the details of one big picture. Congratulations on your engagement. A soulmate is your “person” and life partner. It’s a bond you share that will take you both through a lifetime of all emotions. May your life be blessed with unconditional love, respect, and happiness.

Etiquette tip of the month: Engagement Party

Just as it will be a process to plan the wedding, planning the engagement party will be a process as well and includes some suggested etiquette guidelines/tips to help steer you away from a little faux pas. Establishing the guests list should be priority because this is where the expectations of being invited creates mixed emotions, especially if you will have a large wedding of 50+ guests and need to narrow the list. The engagement party should take place at least 3-4 months after getting engaged. Traditionally, the bride’s family should host the engagement party, and this includes planning and covering the costs. However, we are living in modern times in which the couple may choose to host the event. Plan to invite your closest family members and friends who play an integral role in your life and will be invited to the wedding as an immediate family member / close friend of the family. You’ll want to be sure to set the tone and style of the wedding early through the lens of the invitations that are sent out to the styling of the engagement party. If the wedding will be formal, it is completely up to you to determine the attire for the engagement party.

Dos and Donts

  • Do – Determine who will host the party and do not assume based on tradition
  • Do – Invite people who will be invited to the wedding and will actually attend
  • Don’t – Overspend! If you’re not a minimalist, try to minimize overspending for this event….there’s plenty of time for getting elaborate!
  • Do – Hire a Wedding Planner that does multi-events leading up the wedding (we recommend our sister company, Whimsical Event Studio)
  • Do – Incorporate a moment to reflect on your love story via speeches, friends, and and videography
  • Do – Create your fun wedding hashtag and begin using it on social media when posting engagement party pics
  • Do – Capture the moment and hire a photographer
  • Lastly, do enjoy!
